My love of Lana and Chloe began with season one's "X-Ray" when Chloe dug up Lana's mother's speach. It was about the sweetest thing Chloe could have done, since Lana doesn't rate high on her "people I have to impress" scale it was a genuine act of kindness. It's odd that the oppositte seems to be true of Lana, the popular Smallville sweetheart. Though her actions were at first misunderstood by Chloe, Lana took over the school paper when it was taken away from Chloe in an effort to help Chloe. Lana holds a high amount of respect for Smallville's budding jounalist. While she said Clark had her vote in the school election, when he was angry at Chloe for supporting another Candidate, Lana gave him a bit of understanding into his friends decision. Many of Lana's recent actions certainly have caused Chloe to take another look at Lana.

Since they are the primary females of the series, I can't help but begin to hope that some Lana and Chloe bonding will come in the future. I hope the girls will build a friendship equal to that of Buffy and Willow (Buffy the vampire slayer) and Max and Original Cindy (Dark Angel). While Buffy and Max have thier close male friends and love intrest, there's something special about the relationships they share with there girls. Okay, a guy stands between Chloe and Lana -- Smallville's teenage Superguy, Clark Kent. While Clark is a cutie pie and easy to love - they are the primary Smallville girls. I hope they get past the guy issue and embrace the possiblities of a great friendship. Guys come and go (and we all know Clark goes one day), but good friendships last forever.
